Zack is the younger brother of Emma. The siblings were on their way to Los Angeles. Their mother was
waiting for them at the airport. He is one of the passengers from the tail of Oceanic 815.
After the tail section of the plane crashes into the water off the beach, the survivors swim ashore.
A man in a suit saves a young boy with a teddy bear, but on the beach he yells for his sister, Emma, who
is floating in the ocean.
Mr. Eko goes back into the water and pulls her out, but she is
not breathing. While Ana-Lucia saves the life of the girl, Mr. Eko leads Zack away from them. But before
they go the boy lays down the teddy bear next to Emma.
Later Mr. Eko asks Cindy to look after Emma and Zack, because he
has to do something. She agrees and he pulls the bodies from the water without any help.
In the first night the Others come and attack the group
and take three of the survivors. Mr. Eko fights back and can save himself with nothing but a rock, but
he stops talking after that. The group stays on the beach, by their signal fire.
In the twelfth night, the Others take nine more of them, including the two children. The group finally
moves away from the beach. Ana-Lucia believes Nathan is one of the Others. She demands him to tell the truth and where they are, but he constantly says he doesn't know.
The survivors move again and find the bunker marked by a Dharma Initiative logo. Inside they find a
radio. Goodwin and Ana go to higher ground to try to pick up a signal. While there, Ana reveals that she
knows Goodwin is one of the Others, because on the first day, he ran out of the jungle with his clothes
completely dry, only ten minutes after the plane crashed into the water. Goodwin admits and confirms that the
children are still alive and safe, saying that they are actually "better off." He also says that those taken were "good
people". The two fight and Ana-Lucia wins...
Ana-Lucia promised Emma after she had saved her life that she will be home soon. But can she keep that
promise and will they ever see the kids again?
The episode plays more than a month later. Jack is visited by Cindy and the rest of the kidnapped members of the tail-section. Cindy tells Jack that they are going to watch something. Emma asks Cindy to ask Jack how Ana-Lucia is doing. When Jack heard that he demands them to go away. Zack was seen with the same teddy bear he had on the day of the crash. The boy seemed to look angrily at Jack before he walked away.
